It may take longer for families to receive a grocery benefit from the Families First Coronavirus Act than initially expected.

Each family with children who were enrolled in free and reduced lunch at school will receive $307.80, per eligible child, to help with groceries. Families who already have a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program card should have already seen the money added to their balance. Families without a card will be receiving one in the mail. These were originally expected to be in mailboxes by July 21st. However, that date has been pushed back to August 5th. Dallas County Health Department Public Information Officer and Health Navigator Ann Cochran reminds recipients that this might blend in with pieces of mail you might be tempted to throw away. The card will come in a plain white envelope that will have an Austin, Texas return address.

This can be used for groceries like fruits, meats, poultry, fish, dairy, and breads anywhere Food Assistance/SNAP food benefits are accepted.
