The Iowa High School Athletic Association Board of Control approved a revised plan for 2020 Iowa High School football. Among the changes are a reduction in the number of regular season games a school may play, along with all teams eligible for the playoffs instead of having to qualify.
A seven-week regular season will be conducted. Teams have the option of scheduling five, six, or seven games within those seven weeks. Greene County Activities Director Todd Gordon sent Raccoon Valley Radio the revised schedule on Friday afternoon, and the Rams have the maximum seven games scheduled for the regular season.
2020 Greene County varsity football regular season schedule

Sept. 4 Home vs. South Central Calhoun
Sept. 11 Home vs. Atlantic
Sept. 18 Home vs. Des Moines Christian
Sept. 25 at Red Oak
Oct. 2 Home vs. Clarinda

The revised Greene County schedule eliminates non-district games with Southeast Valley (Gowrie) and Kuemper Catholic (Carroll). The other seven opponents on the revised schedule were on the original schedule, and all five Class 2A District 9 opponents remain in the same order, although the dates have changed.
All teams in all classes will qualify for the postseason in 2020. Brackets will consist of six rounds for each classification. The IHSAA will determine postseason pairings with geography, quality, and team availability as primary considerations. This is intended to be a one-time measure for postseason formatting.
