The Perry Chamber of Commerce is hosting an event that will both support local businesses, and help maintain social distancing.
Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti tells Raccoon Valley Radio they’ve been working with the local merchants group to brainstorm ways to bring customers back to their stores while keeping safety in mind. The event will look a lot like last fall’s Sip and Stroll event where local businesses’ are open past regular hours to provide an opportunity to come out during the evening hours and shop. Several merchants will also be carrying complimentary beverages to add a unique incentive for participants.
In order to create more space for social distancing, the City will be closing down 2nd Street between Willis and Lucinda from 5-8 p.m. Pasutti adds she’s excited that they’re able to bring the community together while keeping safety at the top of the priority list, “We’re always looking for ways to support our local businesses. With our weekly merchants group check-ins, we’ve been meeting virtually on Zoom so we can see what’s going on, what’s new, and where the support is needed. This idea really came from that group. The big thing is now that they’re open, it’s still a matter of inviting people to come in. Because people are hesitant and everyone understands that. So we’re looking at creative ways to maintain that space, bring people in, so that they still feel a part of everything.”
The event will take place this evening from 5-8 p.m. in downtown Perry. You can learn more about the event during Friday’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program with Pasutti.
