Greene County had its high school softball season end at Class 3A number four Humboldt last Friday by a 10-0 final in five innings by the 10-run rule. The Rams ended at 5-11 while the Wildcats won the Region 2 title and advance to next weeks’ State Tournament north of Ft. Dodge with a 21-2 mark.
All three Humboldt wins in the postseason have been by shut out (combined 23-0) and Ram head coach Tom Kennedy praised the Wildcats. “I was very impressed. They have a very good pitcher and she’s had such a great career. The thing that really impressed me was how good defensively they were. They got to balls quickly and made all the plays. They made some plays that I thought looked hard and made them look easy, so I was really impressed with their defense and I think they’ll have a good shot to win. If they do well, it makes us look a little better.”
