The Perry City Council recently approved a bond worth more than $4 million dollars for a variety of improvement projects.
The seven-figure bond was approved by the City Council at their recent meeting Monday evening. City Administrator Sven Peterson tells Raccoon Valley Radio what this money will go towards, “It’s a variety of projects made up in that bond. Probably the biggest one is our Rec Center renovation. We also have our overlay projects that we do every four years. We also have our share of street improvement projects on Bateman and Rawson streets. With that work, it’s going to be going on up there in the next couple of years. Also the extension of 28th Street and a couple of other projects we have going. So lots of big projects going on right now and it’s an exciting time to see all that come together.”
Peterson adds the best part is this bond will not raise any local taxes. The City will be using their road use tax and local sales tax revenue as well as some tax increment financing to pay back the bond.
