A youth soccer camp is coming up soon with the Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department.

The camp will be for 8-11 year-olds on Mondays from July 27th through August 17th at Kelso Park. The 8-9 year-olds will be from 5:45-6:30pm and 10-11 year-olds are from 6:30-7:30pm. The instructor will be Chad Schwander and he will lead participants on improving their soccer skills. Jefferson Parks and Rec Assistant Director Nathan Kral says they will try to follow the COVID-19 guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Iowa Department of Public Health.

“We’re going to try and keep in the camp, keep them as spaced out as best we can, but as you know it’s soccer so I mean people (and) kids get close to each other. So I mean we’re going to do the best that we can.”

Cost to participate is $20 for Greene County Community Center members and $25 for non-members. Deadline to register is Friday. Call the community center at 515-386-3412 to sign up.
