The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.

During open forum, Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams reported on the Iowa Chill Summer Bash at Flack River Farms near Jefferson. He said all eight deputies were on patrol this past Saturday night. They made several arrests, drugs items were seized and there were underage individuals consuming alcohol. Williams noted they were denied access to the grounds Friday night, but due to the calls for service that evening, they were granted access to the grounds for Saturday night. Williams thought the hired security staff by Craig Flack did the best job they could, but there were too many people to control it.

Following the discussion, the Board agreed to move forward with establishing a social host ordinance, along with following up on a possible zoning change for the privately owned property, as was suggested last year.

The Board then approved a State Auditor request to conduct an audit of the County’s pharmacy benefit manager with Caremark. The State Auditor’s Office conducts several random audits throughout the year and this was one of them. Additionally, the Board heard an update from Greene County Development Corporation Executive Director Ken Paxton. He mentioned that there are five housing projects going on in the county, four of which are in Jefferson. He added that Central Iowa Towing purchased a lot in the GCDC west business park.

The Board also approved to change the assessment percentage for drainage district 173 from 147.7% to 59.1%. Drainage District Clerk Michelle Fields said she mistakenly used the wrong assessment percentage to start the new fiscal year. Finally, the Board approved the final report of the substance abuse program as presented.
