A Somers woman was recently arrested on several Jefferson Police Department warrants.
Jefferson Police Chief Mark Clouse says 53-year-old Julie Wells faces several charges from a February 15th incident. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio an officer performed a traffic stop for not having license plates on Wells’ vehicle. The officer observed Wells stuffing items under the driver’s seat and saw a metal smoking pipe on top of the steering wheel. A probable cause search was then conducted and several drug items were recovered.
Warrants were issued charging Wells with three Class D Felonies for her third or subsequent offense for possession of a controlled substance and two serious misdemeanors for unlawful possession of prescription medications.
Wells was arrested by a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy at 2:57pm Sunday at the Greene and Carroll county line after they were notified by the Carroll Sheriff’s Office when they found her vehicle. She was booked into the Greene County Jail and she was later released under her own recognizance. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
