A Jefferson man was recently arrested after several charges were filed this past January.
Jefferson Police Chief Mark Clouse tells Raccoon Valley Radio, 22-year-old Justin Lopez was arrested by the Ames Police Department over the weekend on warrants that were issued in February. Court documents show the police department worked with the U.S. Postal Service about a package from California that was being delivered to Lopez in similar nature to previous packages. A search warrant was issued and the package was seized after it was delivered to Lopez’s residence. There was also a child in the home at the time of the incident.
Lopez was charged with two Class D Felonies for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and failure to affix drug tax stamp, and two aggravated misdemeanors for his third offense for possession of a controlled substance and child endangerment, as well as two simple misdemeanors for failure to appear. He was booked into the Greene County Jail where he remains held under a $5,000 cash or surety bond. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
