The AC/GC baseball team took a step forward this year, despite the abbreviated season.

The Chargers finished off the season with a 6-14 record with a 3-8 conference record. They won only five games in a full season last year. A core group of batters showed great promise as the Chargers look to next year. Bryce Littler, Newell Rodgers, Miles Kading, and Charlie Crawford each hit over .275. AC/GC hasn’t had a single batter achieve that over the last two seasons and all but Littler will be returning next year. The returning trio is Rodgers, Kading, and Crawford were also headaches for opposing catchers on the base paths going 26 for 28 on stolen base attempts.

The Chargers are also showing a very young and talented rotation forming. They were led by freshman Brock Littler who led the team with an eye-popping .71 ERA. He did receive the benefit of facing struggling teams with his spot in the rotation, but he took advantage of each start including a one-hit five inning shutout against West Central Valley and threw five scoreless innings in their first post-season game against Manson Northwest Webster before having to come out of the game following a two and a half hour rain delay. Eighth Grader Andrew Mahaffey also showed a lot of promise in a few of his appearances. Clayton Wardyn will also be expected to be a pivotal part in the rotation during his senior campaign next season as he showed some really good work toward the end of the season.
