The City of Adel has finalized a new comprehensive plan.

City Administrator Anthony Brown says the City has been working on the, “Envision Adel 2040 Comprehensive Plan” since the fall of 2018. Brown, along with City staff, have teamed up with members of the community to put together this plan to help shape the City of Adel over the next 20 years. The last City comprehensive plan was adopted in 2009 and Brown says Adel was due for a new plan, “A lot has changed since 2011. The City’s population has grown, we’ve seen a number of developments that have occurred in different parts of the City, the City has annexed land, and added different amenities. So I think from the plan’s perspective, or at least the City staff’s perspective, we just felt like we were using a plan that did not fit the needs of the City at the moment.” Brown says the City can refer to this plan when talking about future planning and growth. The plan was officially adopted by the City Council during their recent meeting.
