Greene County’s high school softball postseason began on Wednesday night with a mild upset of Kuemper Catholic in Carroll by a 13-0 score in three innings by the 12-run rule. The Knights ended their season at 9-10 while Rams advance with a 5-10 mark.

The competition ratchets up several notches tonight when Coach Tom Kennedy’s team faces Class 3A number 4 ranked Humboldt in Humboldt at 7 p.m. The game will be “live” streamed on KKRF2 from mobile apps and from www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

The Wildcats have a top-notch pitcher in senior Ellie Jacobson, who is 16-1 for a team that is 18-2. Jacobson has struck out 172 batters and walked just 17 in 101 innings pitched. Humboldt can hit the ball as well as shown by their .343 team batting average, which included 18 home runs, nine by junior Kendal Clark, who has driven in 29 runs.
