The Perry softball team came two outs away from pulling off a huge opening round upset a year ago.  Fast forward one year and the Jayettes are hungry to take it one step further in 2020.  Perry will travel to Gilbert tonight for a Class 4A regional softball clash with the Tigers.  Gilbert defeated Perry in the opening game of the season 12-7.  The Jayettes have showed flashes of good softball over the past two weeks but consistency has been their main focus.  The Jayettes traveled to Harlan last year and nearly knocked off the heavily favorite Hawkeye 10 Champion Cyclones.   The Jayettes will have to score runs tonight as Gilbert features an explosive offensive attack.  Perry has been led offensively this season by Jayna Kenney, Maci Kilmer, Jasmine Shriver and Lydia Olejniczak.  Shriver and Kenney share the team lead in RBI’s while Olejniczak has been the main weapon on base with 13 stolen bases.  Olejniczak also smashed her first homerun of the year in the regular season finale at Des Moines Christian.  You can listen to tonight’s game on KDLS and raccoonvalleyradio.com.
