Main Street Guthrie Center is seeking those interested in applying for grant funding for a brick and mortar project in the downtown district.

Main Street Iowa and the Iowa Economic Development Authority have announced that applications are being accepted through August 28th for the Main Street Iowa Challenge Grants. The program, funded by a state appropriation, awards grants of up to $75,000 only to designated Main Street Iowa communities in effort to improve the physical and economic health of their Main Street Districts. Main Street Guthrie Center Director Dana Buster is excited for the opportunity to bring more state dollars to the community, “Main Street applied on behalf of the Activity Center a few years ago and we got $70,000 towards that project so that was a big win for our community. And then last year we didn’t really have anybody to put forward and so we’re really hoping to have another applicant this year so we can bring a second challenge grant to this community.”

Buster urges anyone with a brick and mortar project to contact her as soon as possible as she can only submit an application for one project. You can reach Buster at 641-332-2674 or mainstreetgc@netins.net, and find details on the grant here.
