The City of Perry has noticed an increase in firework complaints over the last couple of weeks.

During their special meeting Monday, Councilmember Vicki Klein informed the Council that she’s heard more complaints from residents than usual. Other members of the Council and Mayor John Andorf had the same sentiment. Klein asked if they could set a date where members of the community could come and express their concerns to the Council. City Administrator Sven Peterson said he’d rather have residents send in their thoughts via writing due to concerns over social distancing, “Given our current situation, the best thing would probably be to submit something in writing that can be distributed to all the Council. Then we could go over that in a Council meeting just so we don’t have a lot of people coming in. ” While the City encourages complaints to be submitted in writing or email, members of the public are always welcome at meetings. Peterson says the best way to contact the Council members about fireworks, or any other concern, is to email City Clerk Liz Hix at Liz.Hix@Perry.org.
