Despite the hotter temperatures last week and a busy game season, the Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center baseball team had another successful citywide cleanup fundraiser in Guthrie Center.

The baseball team and City employees picked up residents’ unwanted possessions curbside on July 8th and 9th. According to Guthrie Center Deputy Clerk Kris Arrasmith, there were 55 scheduled participants in this year’s cleanup, and the City took in $1,715 in initial registration fees, and paid out $280 to the Guthrie County Transfer Station for items that they charge including televisions, tires, and items containing freon.

By the end of the cleanup there were 32 loads taken to the Transfer Station equalling 34,500 pounds of junk. Lunch was also donated to the team by Arrasmith Dirtworks, and the team will receive the total proceeds after the final numbers are tabulated. Despite the unprecedented times with the COVID-19 pandemic, Arrasmith says this year’s collection was about on par with previous years, and the City is pleased at the number of residents who registered. The City thanks all participants for making this year another successful cleanup.
