The Dallas County Secondary Roads Department is gearing up for the back half of the summer, which features several projects.
County Engineer Al Miller says one major project that is ongoing involves County Road R-16 just north of Highway 44. By the end of construction, the road will be widened and overlaid. Miller tells Raccoon Valley Radio the first half of the project was centered around replacing culverts, “We had our crews replace a number of culverts, I believe around 18 or 19 culverts in that stretch. They were all metal culverts that were over 20 years old that we wanted to replace before investing in the pavement. So our crews finished that earlier this year.” Miller says the next step is to let a contract in August so they can begin to widen and overlay the road during the next construction season.
