A Stuart man was recently sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to an amended charge of third degree sexual abuse, a class C felony.
Court documents show that 21-year-old Tristan Jacob Edwards was sentenced to 10 years in prison, and he must serve a special sentence to be supervised as if on parole for the rest of his life. Edwards must also register as a sex offender, and pay over $1,000 in court costs, fines and surcharges. Edwards was originally charged with second degree sexual abuse, a class B felony, and two counts of incest, a class D felony, which were dismissed. The alleged incidents occurred on or around November 27th, 2019 and December 1st, 2017.
In a separate incident, Edwards pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, a simple misdemeanor, and was ordered to pay a fine, surcharge, and court costs for a fight that occurred with another inmate at the Guthrie County Jail on May 28th.
