After cancelling its June event, the Stuart Scoop the Loop organizers are striving to have a safe and successful July event amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is the ninth year of the rolling car show series, which has no registration fee and gift bags for the first 100 entries. Organizer Bob Cook says there are some changes for their event taking place from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, July 18th. There will be no food vendors at the event, so Cook welcomes motorists to arrive early or stay late in Stuart and enjoy one of its restaurant offerings. The organizers ask for social distancing, and all volunteers will be wearing face coverings and encourage attendees to bring and wear their own if desired.

Attendees are also advised to bring their own hand sanitizer, and Cook urges those who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive in the last 14 days to sit this event out, “If you are concerned about your health, we want this event to go on to better times. So if you’re concerned about a public venue, and some are, certainly wait for another time. This event’s going to keep going and we’re just asking everybody to help us get onto a better time.”

In other efforts to make it a safer event, the staff will be holding two registration stations at the Pocket Park on 2nd Street and near the post office, and instead of an award ceremony, the winners’ trophies will be brought to their vehicles beginning at 7:15 p.m. For more information on Stuart’s Scoop the Loop, visit here.
