The ADM Tigers and Van Meter Bulldogs faced off last night in an entertaining non-conference matchup, with the Bulldogs pulling away with four runs in the sixth inning to flex their muscle to a 7-2 victory. The Bulldogs were able to take advantage of six ADM errors on the night, as the defense couldn’t make the plays against a talented Van Meter team.
Tate Stine-Smith was the hard luck loser, giving up six runs with only one of them being earned, five hits and striking out three as well. He did a good job for most of the night keeping the hitters off balance, but Van Meter was able to cause trouble as well scoring in four of the six frames that they came up to bat.
ADM had their two runs in the top of the third, one scored on a passed ball and the other scored on an RBI double from Zach Fuller.
Anthony Pothoff went the distance for Van Meter, who pitched the complete seven innings giving up seven hits, giving up two earned runs, and striking out six as well.
The Tigers have one of their biggest regular season games of the season tonight, when they head to Carlisle for their final Raccoon River Conference game. If they win, they will claim the conference championship. First pitch will be at 6 o’clock.
