dallas-county-expo

The first ever Dallas County 4-H/FFA Expo is ongoing this week at the county fairgrounds in Adel, and the focus will shift to the younger participants tomorrow.

Even without the backdrop of the full Dallas County Fair, ISU Extension and Outreach still felt it was important to shine a light on the efforts of the children in their Clover Kids program. Though this year’s Clover Kids Day won’t be accompanied by things such as free rides and games for all participants, it will still afford the youngsters the opportunity to exhibit their livestock and static projects to get a taste of the competition they’ll have later in their 4-H lives. The former will take place tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. in the show ring, with the latter on display throughout the day in the Varied Industries Building.

As a reminder, the Expo is not open to the public due to COVID-19 restrictions, though family members of the children may attend. The shows and exhibits will wrap up Sunday, and many participants will advance to the Iowa State Fair, which will be held in a limited capacity in August. The Raccoon Valley Radio Big Red Radio will also continue broadcasting live from the fairgrounds the rest of the week, providing results and insight throughout the day.
