A team with a #2 ranking in Class 3A in the state would easily be one of the favorites to win the the State Tournament at Principal Park, but the final 3 games of the regular season to get to the beginning of tournament play will be a challenging stretch for Byron Peyton’s Mustang Baseball team.

Dallas Center-Grimes, 13-2, has the chance to finish the season with just one loss before District play, but they’ll need good pitching and consistent hitting to finish flawless.

DC-G fell on Tuesday night against Harlan, 5-4.

DC-G faces Ankeny tomorrow night in the final regular season home game for the Mustangs against Ankeny, before they face Ballard and Carlisle on the road next week, with District tournament play looming on the horizon.

Mustang Head Coach, Byron Peyton attributed consistent pitching, good defense, and timely hitting as the keys to success for his ball club.  Although DC-G hasn’t hit a single home run this season, the Mustangs are still averaging over 7 runs per contest.

Tomorrow night’s home finale versus Ankeny is scheduled for a 7:00pm start.
