A Jefferson man faces multiple charges following an alleged Friday morning incident.

According to the Jefferson Police Department, an officer responded to a call of a couple that was fighting at 6:25am in another resident’s yard in the 500 block of West State Street. The couple had left when the officer arrived on scene, and they also left a bike on the caller’s property. The officer then found an identification card with the bike and went to the address that was on the card in the 200 block of West Russell Street.

When the officer made contact with the couple, the female victim said she had been assaulted with brass knuckles by the male and he brandished a knife during the assault. The officer found brass knuckles in the residence and the female victim was taken to the Greene County Medical Center Emergency Room with multiple injuries.

The officer then came back to the residence to execute a search warrant. During the search, the officer found the alleged knife, along with marijuana, methamphetamine, prescription medications and several drug paraphernalia items. Thirty-five year-old Justin Michael Cosnotti was arrested and charged with a Class C Felony for willful injury causing serious injury, a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for domestic abuse assault, aggravated misdemeanors for first degree harassment and child endangerment, and serious misdemeanors for his first offense for two possessions of a controlled substance and false imprisonment.

Cosnotti was booked and remains in the Greene County Jail under a $20,000 cash-only bond. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
