A Stuart man who has pleaded guilty to federal charges for an officer-involved shooting incident last October was recently sentenced for another case in Guthrie County.
Court documents show that through a plea agreement 53-year-old Randall Lee Comly was convicted of felon in possession of a firearm, a class D felony. Judge Thomas Murphy sentenced Comly to a five-year prison sentence, and ordered him to pay $750 in fines along with 35% surcharges, witness fees, and jail fees. Charges of first degree burglary, a class B felony; intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a class C felony; and going armed with intent, a class D felony were all dismissed for the August 6th, 2019 incident. Comly allegedly entered into a Casey residence, yelled at one of the subjects inside, pointed a handgun above a subject’s head, discharged the weapon, and then left the house.
This sentence will run consecutively with felony cases in Clarke County. Comly is also awaiting sentencing in federal court for charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute; possession, brandishing, and discharging a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime; and felon in possession of a firearm. Those charges stemmed from an October 17th incident in which Comly shot at several law enforcement officers who were attempting to serve an arrest warrant.
