Freshman Aliya Yanga has showed a lot of pop in her bat in previous games this year, but hadn’t been able to hit a home run yet. That changed on Wednesday Night when she hit not one, but two home runs for ADM, supercharging a big offensive night to lead the Tigers to victory over Van Meter 17-3. Yanga was able to post 4 RBIs on the night as well, as she got her best offensive performance of the season so far.
ADM as a team got 18 hits on the night, one of their seasons best, with every starter recording a hit. Of those hit, seven were extra base hits, with four doubles, a triple from junior Brooke Hickey, and the pair of home runs from Yanga.
Senior Abbie Hlas had a good night on the mound, as she pitched a complete game up five hits, one earned run, and getting six strikeouts as well.
ADM moved to 3-0 on the week and has won six straight in their season, and will look for seven tonight when they go down to Indianola in what should be a fun challenging matchup for the Tigers.
