With several weeks left of the high school baseball and softball seasons, spectators are reminded of the COVID-19 related restrictions the Guthrie County school districts have put in place.

The Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center, Panorama, and West Central Valley teams are all part of the West Central Activities Conference, who decided that all games will accept a freewill donation for admission, concessions will not be offered as per the Department of Education and public health guidelines, and coolers are allowed to be brought in but are subject to being searched. Panorama Activities Director Erin Kirtley shares how the Panthers have been responding to the changes brought on by the pandemic, “Our coaches are doing a great job, our kids seem to be doing a great job. You know everybody is really doing their best to kind of follow the guidelines we’ve put out there. The parents have been awesome, they’ve been really respectful of some of the small changes that we’ve been trying to make in order to pull this all off.”

West Central Valley Activities Director David Doely reminds spectators that sunflower seeds are not allowed at the games, and advises people to stay home if they show COVID-19 symptoms or have been in contact with someone with a positive case in the last 14 days, “We always encourage people to come out and watch but they just got to remember social distancing guidelines and be aware of what is going on and the safety of our players, coaches, spectators, and try best to bring their own chair to be able to spread out as much as they can.”

The public is also encouraged to bring their own hand sanitizer and wear face masks.
