A new era at Perry City Hall has begun, following the retirement of longtime City Clerk Paula Rychnovsky.
She has been with the City for the last 19 years, starting out as the Administrative Clerk for the Perry Police Department in August of 2001. She shifted to her current position in 2017, and Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson says in that time she has been perhaps the most indispensable member of the City staff. Prior to coming to Perry, Rychnovsky held positions in Ringgold County with their Recovery Center, Auditor’s Office, and Supportive Services, as well as with the City of Mount Ayr. Peterson says the City of Perry was lucky to have her for as long as they did, and he wishes her well.
Rychnovsky announced her retirement in March, which set the City to the task of finding her successor. They did so with a Perry resident who Peterson says is likely known to many. “We were able to hire a local, very qualified candidate – Liz Hix – as the new City Clerk. So she’s had a couple of days to get started here, but she will get started full time July 6th in the office. So we’re excited to have her on board and ready to get her trained up and set her loose on the City Clerk position.”
