The annual Perry Chamber of Commerce Fourth of July fireworks round-up fundraiser is ongoing through Saturday, and Raccoon Valley Radio will once again help spread the word with a live broadcast tomorrow.
The Big Red Radio will be on hand from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Friday at the Perry Fareway, making live reports, playing music, and providing public address services. We will also have the privilege of broadcasting live the conclusion of the inaugural Big Boom Bracket Battle, including the presentation of the winner receiving a pie in the face. Perry Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti notes that each aspect of the event is in support of the annual fireworks drive, and she’s thankful for the assist from the radio station. “The Big Red (Radio) will be there, so pumping some tunes and some live broadcasts. And so we’ll be there to kind of build that energy around the fireworks drive and encourage people to donate. So (we’re) reminding them that the round-up is this week.”
The grocery bill round-up promotion runs through Saturday at both the Hy-Vee and Fareway locations in Perry. It involves customers rounding up their totals at the register to the nearest dollar or above, with the remainder donated to the fundraiser. Online voting also continues through noon tomorrow for the Big Boom Bracket Battle, with the finals between Hulgan Plumbing and Heating owner J.P. Hulgan and Perry DMACC Director Eddie Diaz.
