Though the Perry Public Library remains closed to the public, that won’t stop them from offering a large number of activities in July for the kids summer reading program.

Children’s Librarian Suzanne Kestel says all of the events are held virtually, with craft kits they can pick up curbside at the library. Upcoming programs for various age groups include: “All About Princesses” on July 6th for 18-months to 5-year-olds; “Choose Your Own Garden Path” on July 8th for 3rd-5th graders; “Royalty” on July 9th for kindergarten-2nd graders; and “Dragon Eggs” from July 13-18, and “Dragon Stuffed Animals” on July 16th for all ages.

Kestel notes that nearly all of the activities are free to attend, but you must sign up. “The big thing is that they need to be registered for the summer library program. (It’s) real easy, just call us. We only ask a couple questions, and boom, they’re registered! And then they can just sign up for any of these kits, and you drive up to the east side of the library, say you’re here and that you came for the dragon eggs, and we bring them out to you. So it’s worked out really well, the curbside (service) is pretty popular, and if they have any questions they can call me.”

Kestel adds, participants can sign up for as many or as few activities as they would like – as long as they fit the recommended age range – and each child will be eligible for prizes at the conclusion of the program.
