Thanks to the support of parents, local businesses, and community members the Panorama juniors and seniors will get to enjoy a prom tomorrow night.
Due to COVID-19 the school district decided to just hold a grand march event in the downtown square, but a group of parents got together to fundraise to hold an unofficial prom at The Port restaurant. Organizer Steph Reinhart says they have surpassed their fundraising goal of $3,000 for the event, so that students will not have to pay admission and will get to have dinner and enjoy other activities. Reinhart says she hopes the students will have a fun experience, “You know we’re very fortunate because a lot of schools have simply just cancelled and there wasn’t a plan to reschedule or do anything like this and so I hope that they recognize that they are fortunate in that in regard that they are cared about and we just want them to have this memorable night and we understand their lives have been greatly disrupted this year and a lot of things have been taken from them unfortunately and so we want to do this for them and we want to do this for them and we want them to enjoy themselves and to be safe and smart and make this a really a successful event because it’s up to them now.”
The event will include a buffet dinner at 8 p.m., live music and dancing, a photo booth, and other activities including even a face mask decorating station.
