First year Greene County head baseball coach Matt Paulsen’s Greene County Rams faced PCM in Prairie City on Wednesday night in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play. The result was a fourth straight loss, resulting in an 0-4 overall and conference record. The Rams fell by a final of 8-1 with just three hits while being charged with five errors.
Sophomore Bryce Stalder took the pitching loss. He went the first four innings and allowed four runs, one earned. Stalder gave up four hits and a walk, and he struck two batters out. Junior Alex Roberts tossed two innings. He gave up four runs, two earned, on three hits and four walks, and he recorded one strikeout.
The Rams had three hits, all singles. Two hits and the one run batted in came off Stalder’s bat, with Roberts getting the other hit. Greene County has scored just one run in three of its four games, and all but two hits so far this season have been singles.
PCM scored two runs in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to improve to 2-2 on the season.
Greene County is on the road again tonight with Roland-Story in Story City in HOIAC action.
