AC/GC baseball and softball will be back to work today when they hit the road to face Van Meter.

The baseball team will try to pull of an unprecedented upset when they face off against the defending state champions. AC/GC has not beaten Van Meter since the Guthrie County-Adair Casey merger. Even before that, Guthrie Center had not beaten the Bulldogs since 2007 and holds a 1-26 record in their last 27 meetings.

The Charger softball team will try to bounce back after facing one of the states best teams in Ogden earlier this week. When the two teams squared off, AC/GC kept them at zero runs for the first four innings before the Bulldogs found their bats in the fifth to start a scoring spree that ended in a 9-1 victory. The Chargers will have to figure out standout freshman pitcher Macy Blomgren who’s been stellar boasting a 2.85 era in 34 innings, and striking out 52 batters along the way.
