For a third consecutive week, a peaceful protest happened at the Greene County Courthouse in Jefferson.

Tuesday afternoon, a small group of about 15 people walked about the courthouse in protest of racial injustice. The event started with Rippey resident and co-organizer Dale Hanaman giving remarks about racial injustice, followed by his wife Nancy who also spoke on the same topic. Dale asked for everyone to be more aware of the racial issues that are happening.

“Become more aware that we here in Greene County are nearly all white, that there are some brown and black families here. We don’t see them very often, they sort of slide into the background. That we need to make a difference as people in Greene County, make a difference. To make sure that everyone understands that they are valued.”

Hanaman adds the protests will continue to be held every Tuesday at noon at the courthouse.
