Raccoon Valley Radio is beginning a complete remodel project on the studio in Perry, but will continue providing the same services throughout construction.

General Manager John McGee says the company was purchased in 2012, and it was immediately evident that improvements were needed throughout the building. Since then, many have already been tackled, but McGee notes the biggest change was put on the backburner until now. “Our first eight years in here we’ve really made a lot of technological improvements, increased the quality (and) the reliability of the output that we put in. But we really did not do a lot to change the work envelope, to actually look at the physicalness of the building and how to make it flow better, how to better accommodate our employees and our staff. And you know as we’ve grown from two employees to 15 full-time employees, it definitely puts pressure on the logistics and the physicalness of the building.”

McGee expects construction to take until possibly November to complete, but he emphasizes that the Raccoon Valley Radio network will continue to operate as it always has. There will still be daily news, information, music, and weather provided during the remodel, as well as live severe weather coverage and sports.
