Greene County and North Polk will square off tomorrow night in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference softball and baseball. The Rams and Comets meet on the Alleman baseball diamond while the softball teams play in Jefferson on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coverage shortly after 7 p.m.with first pitch set for 7:30 p.m.

The Rams are 0-3 in baseball after losing 11-1 in 4-2/3 innings by the 10-run rule in Gilbert on Friday night. Greene County was out hit 12-3 and only one hit by the Rams left the infield. First year head coach Matt Paulsen is still looking for win number one. Greene County has scored a combined six runs in three games and four of the runs came in a 10-4 loss to South Hamiltonafter the Rams trailed 9-0. Greene County has been without All-Conference and All-District shortstop Nick Breon since the third inning of the first game of the season due to a knee issue.

The softball Rams are 1-2 overall and in the conference. Coach Tom Kennedy’s team was not able to hold a 3-0 lead at Gilbert on Friday night, losing 4-3. The Tigers tied the game with three runs in the fifth, then took the lead in the sixth by taking advantage of two throwing errors by the Rams. Greene County’s offense has scored six, one, and three runs, in the first three games, and the Rams do not yet have an extra base hit. The defense has given up eight unearned runs in the first three games.
