The ADM Tigers did so many things well in their 2-1 loss to the number 1 state ranked Carlisle Wildcats on Thursday, playing a game with no errors and getting solid pitching performances from senior Abbie Hlas and freshman Aliya Yanga.
Despite getting the first runner on every single inning through the 5th, ADM unfortunately couldn’t capitalized as they stranded 10 on base and wasn’t able to record any hits with runners in scoring position. Hlas went 4 2/3 giving up only 4 hits and 2 runs, both in the first inning from an RBI single and a sacrifice bunt. Yanga had multiple Ks in 2 1/3 scoreless.
ADM had five hits on the night and was able to load the bases multiple times. Junior Brooke Hickey drove in the lone run with a sacrifice fly to shallow left field, and Hlas making a great base running play to score the run on the unsuspecting defense. Hlas was able to reach base four times on a hit and three walks. Carlisle had an answer to ADM rally, riding solid pitching and getting multiple defensive gems on sharply hit balls.
For the fourth ranked Tigers, they will return to the diamond next week for more key Raccoon River Conference games, as they conclude what was still a solid week with a 2-1 record.
