Greene County’s positive cases of COVID-19 continue to be on a sharp incline.

According to the state dashboard as of Wednesday, there were 23 cases, which is almost ten more cases than what the county had early last week. Greene County Public Health Director Becky Wolf describes the main reasons for the sudden increase.

“Number one we’ve got the easing of restrictions, and opening of businesses, and activities. So people are more mobile. We see an increase in testing (for the virus) going on now too. And then the other factor is that we indeed are seeing a growing (of) community spread of the COVID-19 in Greene County.”

Wolf urges everyone to continue to be vigilant and practice the preventative guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Iowa Department of Public Health. Some of those include staying home if sick, wearing a mask when outside the home and staying six-feet apart from other people. She adds, the peak of COVID-19 is yet to come for Greene County.
