It’s home game number one for the Greene County High School baseball team tonight. Coach Matt Paulsen’s Rams host the South Hamilton Hawks in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play at Allensworth Field around 7:30 p.m.
The Rams lost a 3-2 conference and season opening game on Monday night to Saydel in Des Moines. Greene County out hit the Eagles six to three, but had two base runners thrown out at third, and only one of Saydel’s runs off sophomore pitcher Bryce Stalder was earned.
Senior Brent Riley is scheduled to get the start tonight. Riley has the most experience on the varsity level of any Ram pitcher. He threw 58-2/3 innings last season with a 3.94 earned run average and a 3-7 record.
SH opened its season on the road in Prairie City on Monday with a 17-4 victory.
