The Greene County School District recently announced this year’s senior class awards and scholarships.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, the District decided to delay the awards ceremony from mid-May to June 12th, and hold the event as an online, virtual opportunity for the public to watch. The decision to have the event held this way was made with the health and safety in mind of everyone involved, while also practicing social distancing.
There were 191 awards and scholarships were given out during the ceremony with the different presenters at Kelso Park in Jefferson. High School Guidance Counselor Ruth Broman says over $442,000 in scholarships were awarded, and of that $195,000 came from communities in Greene County. She reminded the seniors to control what they can control and support each other in their future endeavors. The 2020 Senior Class will have their commencement ceremony on Sunday, June 28th at Linduska Field.
