As summer usually beckons road trips, camping, and other vacations, Guthrie County Public Health reminds residents that COVID-19 can’t be left in the rearview mirror.
Public Health Director Jotham Arber doesn’t want to hamper anyone’s fun this season, but he wants people to remember that COVID-19 is confirmed in every state. For those traveling, Arber advises to keep at least six feet of distance from those you don’t know, especially if they appear to show COVID-19 symptoms like a cough, shortness of breath, nausea, fever, diarrhea, or fatigue, “And then washing our hands as we go along if you’re going to drive somewhere and you’re going to be going for a long distance, you’re probably going to have to stop somewhere, probably going to go into a gas station that sort of thing. So I don’t think you can ever wash your hands too many times, especially when you’re dealing with the fact that there are so many people that are using restaurants and gas stations now.”
Arber also advises the public to avoid buffet-style or self-serving food stations, and if you’re holding a gathering to do it outside if possible, with high-risk family and friends joining virtually.
