Despite having shortened time to practice and prepare for opening day, the Panorama softball team did not show any rust offensively Monday night.
The Panthers started their season by making the quick trip to Stuart to square off against Guthrie County foe West Central Valley. The Panthers got the scoring started in the first inning taking a quick 1-0 lead. The Wildcats answered back with a three-run half to take a 3-1 to the second. Panorama connected and scored two runs, followed by West Central Valley scoring five in their half. The trend of Panorama finding the scoreboard, just to be followed by a bigger inning from the Wildcats was a trend that lasted throughout the evening until the score was 20-11 after the seventh inning, in favor of West Central Valley. Jaidyn Sellers led the Panthers with four hits in five at-bats, three runs scored and three runs batted in.
The Panthers drop to 0-1 on the year and will hosting Woodward-Granger Tuesday in Panora. First pitch will be at 5:30 p.m. this evening.
