The Guthrie Center Aquatic Center has expanded their offerings since the state has allowed pools to open beyond lessons and lap swimming.
The pool is now open for lap swimming from 6-7 a.m., and open swimming from 12:30-3:45 p.m. and 5-8:30 p.m. Due to COVID-19 the max capacity for the facility is 140. The first half hour of the open swim sessions will be used for COVID-19 screenings. All those entering the pool will have their forehead temperature taken, and if the temperature read is at or above 100.4 degrees fahrenheit the person will not be allowed to enter. The public will also be asked a series of four questions regarding COVID-19. Once they have passed the check-in questions the shallow end of the pool will be open until the rest of the pool is open at 1 and 5:30 p.m. respectively.
The pool staff is implementing several other safety protocols to reduce the spread of COVID-19, and signs will be posted throughout the facility as reminders of good hygiene and social distancing practices. No family or individual season passes will be offered this year, and a $2 entry fee will be required for all who enter. Due to the limited capacity, re-entry will not be guaranteed. Private lessons are also being offered this summer, and those interested can call the Pool Manager Matt Hanner at 641-332-2989 for more information.
