The Greene County food pantry has made some new adjustments for clients during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Action Resource Center (ARC) Manager Shirley Haupert says they are allowing clients to come back into the building starting this Wednesday. Since the community spread started in Iowa mid-March, only curbside service was allowed. Haupert points out that curbside service will continue for those clients who do not feel comfortable coming back inside the facility.

There are some guidelines to keep in mind. Only one individual per family is allowed in the building and they can only shop for food and hygienic items, while clothing items will start again next month. Clients will be required to wear a mask which can be provided by the pantry for those who need one. Clients will need to follow the traffic flow when they arrive at the building and park in line and a volunteer will come escort them inside. Volunteers are also required to wear masks and practice social distancing when possible. Hands will be sanitized and all carts will be cleaned in between uses.

Haupert adds that they haven’t yet seen an increase in usage of the pantry since mid-March. However, she appreciates the donations they have received so far. ARC is open Wednesdays from 9-11:30am in June and clothing items will be available starting July
