With less than one week since the Jefferson Municipal Pool opened with COVID-19 restrictions, it will now open to the public starting tomorrow.
Following the governor’s public health emergency proclamation from Wednesday permits all swimming pools to open to the public Saturday. This announcement followed the governor’s previous restriction for pools to only be open for lap swim and private lessons.
The Jefferson Parks and Recreation opened the pool last Saturday for those uses, but they have announced new hours to start tomorrow. Adult lap swim will be from 11:30am-1pm, open swim is from 1-5:30pm and family swim is from 5:30-6:30pm, where only members from the same household will be allowed to swim.
Parks and Rec Director Denny Hammen tells Raccoon Valley Radio social distancing signage will be posted at places where there are lines, such as the diving board and slide; benches and chairs will be kept six-feet apart, staff will disinfect frequently touched surfaces on an hourly basis and six-feet social distancing will be encouraged for individuals in the pool. The concession stand will not be open at this time.
Seasonal passes are being offered now, along with daily rates for the pool. Call 515-386-3412 or stop by the Greene County Community Center for more information.
