What a whirlwind the past month has been for the coaches and players of the Dallas Center-Grimes Baseball and Softball programs.  Four weeks ago, the decision to play was deemed acceptable by Governor Reynolds, with stipulations, of course.  Then, the IHSAA and IGHSAU boards voted to play this summer, with restrictions and protocols.

June 1, practice began, and now in just 3 days the first games of the season begin.  DC-G Baseball and Softball gets today and the weekend to fine tune their skills, finalize lineups, and prepare for the first games of the summer with a Little Hawkeye Conference road trip to Norwalk.

DC-G will be the heavy favorite in the baseball contest, and a solid favorite in the Softball contest.

Softball Coach Steve Schlafke, and Baseball Coach Byron Peyton are more than excited for the opportunity to play this summer.  Both programs are Senior class dominated, and getting the chance to go out and play and compete for a State Championship is all they wanted, and now both programs have the chance to make some noise over the next two months.

Both the DC-G Baseball and Softball season openers at Norwalk on Monday will start at 7:30pm.
