The Perry School Board convened Monday evening in regular session.
The meeting began with the Board getting a tour of the construction sites for the new wrestling/multipurpose room and industrial technology facility at the high school. They then reconvened and held a public hearing on amendments to the 2020-21 school calendar, which were approved. Following that they got reports from Superintendent Clark Wicks on the return to learn plan, the building trades house, and the annual Board retreat, as well as from District Librarian Mari Butler-Abry on the end-of-year report.
In general business, the Board approved a service agreement with Street Smarts for driver’s education services. Next, they approved a Career Advantage concurrent enrollment education service agreement and a Career Academy program educational service agreement with Des Moines Area Community College. That was followed by approval of the yearly contract with 21st Century Rehab for sports medicine services, as well as memorandums of understanding between the Iowa Jobs for America’s Graduates (iJAG) program and the high school and middle school.
Other items approved included: hourly rates for Perry’s Academic, Cultural, and Enrichment Services (PACES) staff; revisions to Board policies; continued participation in the School Administrators of Iowa mentoring and instruction program; summer paint crew and food service hourly rates; 2020-21 meal prices; personnel changes; and universal preschool 28E agreements.
