Casey and surrounding residents can now go downtown for their favorite pick me up at a business that’s been months in the making.
Casey Creamery had its grand opening Saturday afternoon, where they had a constant stream of customers stop in for traditional ice cream treats, smoothies, and other refreshments. Located at 103 East Logan Street, Matt and Stacey Wedemeyer purchased the building last November which had housed different barber shops for over a century.
Stacey, who has also been a school nurse previously for the Guthrie Center and now the Adair-Casey school district, says it’s been a dream of hers to open an ice cream shop, and she shares why she chose to start this venture in a town of around 400 residents, “My husband grew up here and we just really love this town and we try to help renovate projects and tear down old houses and just kind of clean up the town, whether it be housing or businesses or the parks. We’re just pretty involved in a lot of that kind of stuff and with the other new businesses in town we thought it was a great time for us to continue with that project, and then after us there’s even more and more coming so we can’t wait for that.”
Though they were unable to get coffee from their supplier in time for this weekend, Casey Creamery does plan on selling coffee drinks in the future.
