While COVID-19 is still prevalent in Guthrie County, the Conservation Board remains vigilant in protecting its staff, campers, and the public with their campground policy.
Guthrie County Conservation reopened its campgrounds at Lenon Mill and Nations Bridge parks on May 15th, but they have not yet wavered from their Level One policy restrictions. Conservation Director Brad Halterman says the campgrounds are only open to self-contained wheeled units, and two individual sites at Nations Bridge as well as five sites at Lenon Mill are closed to ensure proper social distancing. Halterman says they will only move to Level Two of their policy once they are comfortable being able to keep all facilities clean and safe. “I understand that it’s not ideal for a lot of folks, and I myself wish that things could be the way that they were in the past, but right now they’re not.”
The restrooms, showers, and playgrounds remain closed at the County parks. For other camping opportunities in Guthrie County, Springbrook State Park has opened its campgrounds for all kinds of camping units, as well as restrooms and shower buildings. Some restrictions do remain in place though, as only those with overnight reservations are allowed in the campgrounds, and occupants are restricted to six per campsite, unless immediate families contain more.
