Tomorrow is the 2020 primary election, and Dallas County voters are reminded that their normal polling site is likely different than in years past.

Auditor Julia Helm says her office combined most of the precincts in order to minimize the amount of locations to accommodate a smaller election workforce. Additionally, they’ve moved some of the sites to locales that allow for greater spacing and proper social distancing. For example, all three Perry precincts, as well as Spring Valley/Dallas and Beaver/Des Moines, will vote at Perry Elementary School. Similarly, both Adel precincts and Colfax/Adel will vote at the Adel Public Library. In total there will be eight precinct locations in Dallas County for the primary.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. – 9 p.m., and voters will need to be registered as members of their chosen party in order to cast a ballot. They are also reminded to bring photo identification to their location, as well as proof of residency if they haven’t registered yet. Helm is hopeful for a smooth Election Day for the primary, and encourages people to be patient. “We’re all in this together, and if we can all just be patient through this process as we’re all trying to figure it out, I think we’ll come out on the other side feeling really good about how the election went.”
