April unemployment skyrocketed in Iowa.
According to Iowa Workforce Development, Greene County had the largest increase of unemployment in the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area compared to March of 7.5-percent to 10.2-percent in April. Guthrie County had a six-percent uptick in unemployment from March to April to 10.4-percent. Dallas County saw a five-percent swing in unemployment in April to 7.6-percent.
IWD compares total labor force numbers for each county, Greene County went from 140 people unemployed in March to 560 in April, Guthrie County had 200 unemployed in March to 600 in April, and Dallas County saw 1,200 people unemployed in March and that went up in April to 3,700.
The statewide unemployment rate for April was 10.2-percent and the national rate was 14.7-percent.
